What is the difference between Hemp and Cannabis?

“Hemp” and “cannabis” both come from the same plant species — Cannabis sativa. The key difference is legal classification based on THC content.

 

Hemp contains less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC by dry weight and is federally legal under the 2018 Farm Bill.


Cannabis (marijuana) contains higher levels of Delta-9 THC and is regulated under state-specific cannabis laws.

What's the difference between THCa vs THCp?

THCa (Tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid) is the raw, non-psychoactive precursor to THC. When heated (smoked or vaped), THCa converts into Delta-9 THC through a process called decarboxylation.

 

THCp (Tetrahydrocannabiphorol) is a naturally occurring cannabinoid known for its strong binding affinity to CB1 receptors, which may result in more potent effects compared to traditional Delta-9 THC.

 

As with all cannabinoids, effects vary by individual tolerance and body chemistry.
